After 13 years as the Director of Enforcement at the Jersey Financial Services Commission and 41 years in the field of enforcement, Barry Faudemer is stepping down to enjoy a well-earned retirement.
During his service with the JFSC, Barry has made a significant contribution to the development of the organisation, enhancing compliance with the regulatory standards and playing a pivotal role in firmly, but fairly, enforcing those requirements.
Kerry Petulla, our Head of Enforcement, will be taking on additional responsibilities and will assume the role of Acting Director of Enforcement.
In departing, Barry commented:
“I count myself as very lucky to have worked with such a professional and dedicated workforce at the JFSC. It has been a pleasure and an honour to have served as the Director of Enforcement and despite the work being challenging, the sheer professionalism of JFSC staff certainly made the role so much easier. The JFSC and enforcement division is respected internationally and that position has only been achieved by the hard work and dedication of all the workforce. I would like to thank everyone for the support you have given me over such a long period of time, often approaching daunting situations with good humour, determination and utter professionalism. The vast bulk of the enforcement work undertaken understandably goes untold but I have derived a great deal of pride and comfort from the fact that we have protected some of the most vulnerable members of our community and brought unscrupulous individuals to book.
Lastly I would like to say a personal thank you to my team who have been the most inspirational and supportive group of people. Their good humour and dedication is recognised by local, national and international stakeholders, including enforcement divisions in many other jurisdictions. It has been my good fortune to have worked with you all.
I could not think of a safer and more competent, knowledgeable and professional person to hand over the reins to than Kerry Petulla and I know, under her leadership, Enforcement will go from strength to strength. I wish Kerry every success in the Acting Director of Enforcement role.
I will continue to be a firm supporter of the JFSC and wish everyone success for the future.”
Martin Moloney, Director General commented:
“Barry has been a hugely admired and liked colleague who has been a vital leader in building up the Enforcement capabilities of the JFSC and in integrating the use of our enforcement powers into our overall regulatory approach. He will be much missed by all his friends and co-workers in the JFSC. We wish him well.”
