On 15 December, the CMVM will be promoting the first Sustainability Meetings – an initiative that aims to boost dialogue and stimulate reflection on incorporating environmental, social and corporate governance factors (ESG ) in the performance and management models of companies and institutions, in investment options, in investor decision-making and in the supervisory principles and trends in this area.
The events are held online for market agents during the course of the morning and for the general public, during the afternoon. The morning will consist of two sessions behind closed doors, one for issuers and the other for asset management companies, where the proposal for a non-financial information report model (non-binding) for securities issuers will be addressed, as well as the challenges posed to asset management in incorporating sustainability principles.
The afternoon will be dedicated to the “CMVM Talks”, a moment that brings together environmental specialists, namely in marine conservation, to debate the theme “From Sustainable Finance to a Sustainable Planet”. At the beginning of the session, the “A Microplastic Sea” project will be presented by the Association for the Study and Conservation of the Oceans (AECO), which was co-financed by the participants at the 2019 CMVM annual conference.
Starting at 17h30, the “CMVM Talks” will be attended by Gabriela Figueiredo Dias, Chair of the CMVM, João Wengorovius Meneses, Chair of BCSD – Business Council for Sustainable Development, Ricardo Barradas, Chair of AECO, Helena Vieira, Director General of Maritime Policy and Rui Peres Jorge, Director of the CMVM Strategic Analysis and Communication Office. The conversation will be moderated by António Costa, Director of ECO.
To participate in the online event, with live transmission and open to the public, prior registration is required.
