The Northeast and South regions will gain centers of excellence for financial education at school . This is because the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) signed agreements with the Municipality of João Pessoa (PB) and with the Municipality of Maringá (PR) so that cities have these spaces for sharing knowledge. The initiative is one of the consequences of the agreement between the Municipality and the Ministry of Education.

“These agreements are strategic to support, encourage, and connect regional initiatives for financial education. In addition, the initiatives will facilitate access to educational materials prepared by CVM and partners.”

José Alexandre Vasco, Superintendent of Investor Protection and Guidance at CVM

The objective is to train elementary and high school teachers from private and public networks, using the specific platform for the dissemination of financial education teaching among children, adolescents and adults. In João Pessoa and Maringá, the expectation is to reach more than 3 thousand and 10 thousand teachers, respectively, in three years.

‘Big Bang’ of Financial Education

The agreement between the CVM and the MEC to train half a million teachers in Financial Education is just one of the CVM’s recent initiatives to disseminate knowledge to different audiences and in different ways. The platform is live at: www.edufinanceiranaescola.gov.br .

One of the motivations for the technical cooperation agreement is the recent impact of the pandemic on personal finances and school education. The Municipality, through the @CVMEducacional profile, also launched a profile on TikTok . After all, the idea is that financial planning and investment guidelines are increasingly a topic of discussion in different environments: school, social network, home and work.
