Sherif Samy – EFSA’s Chairman stressed on the important role played by financial analysts in supporting decisions issued in the capital market whether in these that are related to shares’ offering or trading or acquisitions or investment management. He pointed out that the issuance of the First Egyptian Financial valuation Standards enhances the objectivity of the fair value studies and provides a guideline for everyone to follow.

In his speech in the CFA Society Egypt Grand Ceremony which included the announcement of The CFA Research Challenge Award in which 12 Egyptian University have competed in, EFSA’s Chairman noted that preparing new generations of specialists in the field of valuation, analyzing and feasibility studies adds to the companies operating in the field of securities and investment funds, banks and issuers of stocks and bonds. He added that the universities’ teams have provided excellent researches in the field of investment and financial analysis.

Sherif Samy noted that there were great developments in the global capital markets in light of the significant progress in the Financial technology,  which is also known as FinTech including the use of artificial intelligence in issuing investment recommendations (robo-advice) and  managing  financial settlement registries by using cloud computing (Blockchain), as well as using  logarithmic programs and technologies in the issuance of  buying and selling  orders  (high frequency trading) however , all these new technologies make  the regulator  exert more effort to ensure market stability and protect the dealers.

At the end of the ceremony, EFSA’s Chairman participated in the distribution of scholarships to pass the requirements for obtaining the CFA certificate and handing the AUC team the top prize at the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Research Challenge contest and it is worth mentioning that Helwan University team came in second place.

Sherif Samy also praised the volunteer effort of a number of senior managers and specialists in the Egyptian financial institutions to act as pioneers and supervisors on the work of universities’ team so as to provide them with proper guidance in the application of best methodologies and targeting comprehensiveness of presentation and logical recommendations.
