Today we hosted our first completely virtual event to launch our business plan for 2021, when we announced that we are moving forward with the next stage of our four-year strategic roadmap, despite the challenges posed by Covid-19.

During the session, which more than 650 people joined, we reflected on a year where we demonstrated resilience and adaptability in the face of a pandemic and we outlined our key priorities for 2021.

Last year, as well as keeping the Registry open for business and continuing with our regulatory activities, we managed to make significant progress with the first year of our strategic roadmap. We have today reemphasised our commitment to that strategy and our key priorities of:

  • building even more effective supervision
  • embedding risk-focused choices throughout its work
  • strengthening its organisational resilience.

Unveiling our plans and a static budget for 2021, this year we will be prioritising preventing and fighting financial crime, transforming the way we supervise, and continuing our work to build a modern, resilient Registry.

Mark Hoban, our Chair commented:

“Our operational resilience has never been tested more than in 2020, as we responded to a pandemic and managed to maintain both our regulatory and registry operations while working remotely. At the same time, we delivered a number of large transformational projects that will benefit the regulated community and our registry customers. Much of what we are delivering in 2021 sees us building on the work we started in 2020 and planning the next phases of our work for 2022.”

Martin Moloney, our Director General added:

“Our strategic roadmap articulated a multi-year project of challenging work on multiple fronts. Events have shown us that we were right to emphasise resilience, risk-focused choices and financial crime. As we reflect on what was a turbulent and challenging year for all in 2020, we can celebrate significant successes in what we delivered and reflect on the strong position we are now in for 2021 to build on those foundations.”
