Monthly Benchmarks on Securities Investment Funds – January 2022

The sum under management of UCITS amounted to €19,133.6 million in January 2022.  This is a €394.6 (-2.0%) decrease apropos December. The amount under management of AIFs decreased 0.9% down to €328.0 million.

Investment in shares decreased 2.5% for foreign issuers compared to the previous month. With regard to public debt, the value of the investment increased 42.2% for national debt and rose 4.34% for foreign debt. The amount invested in bonds rose 2.4% for national and dropped 0.8% for foreign issuers.

Jerónimo Martins was the security with the most impact on the funds’ portfolios, depicting 12.4% of the total amount invested with an 5.5% monthly upswing, followed by Sonae, registering a 0.3% decrease in the funds’ portfolios and Navigator Company rose 3.6% apropos December.

As to investment in the EU market, LVMH, BASF and Siemens lead the field in the SIF’s portfolios and outside the EU, Microsoft, Apple and Visa.

The Germany was the key destination for investment of UCITS in January, securing 17.0% of the total fund investment, followed by the USA (16.7%) and Luxembourg (11.8%). Portugal registered 4.3% of the investment.

Caixa Gestão de Ativos (35.0%), IM Gestão de Ativos (21.7%) and BPI Gestão de Activos (17.2%) were the management companies with the largest market share.

In January, two funds merged by incorporation: “Popular Global 50 – Fundo de investimento mobiliário aberto” and “Popular Global 75 – Fundo de investimento mobiliário aberto ações” into “Santander Select Dinâmico – Fundo de investimento mobiliário aberto”, both managed by Santander Asset Management.
