The Value of Capital Increase was 17 Billion EGP by the end of May

Sherif Samy – EFSA’s Chairman stated that the number of approvals on issuing capital increase shares by the end of May 2017 amounted to 1964 approvals with a value of 36.7 billion pounds, in which an amount of 16.8 billion pounds is paid.  In this respect, the paid-up capital witnessed a rise by 11%.

Sherif Samy explained that the market capitalization of listed shares was amounted to 676 billion pounds with a rise of 69% by the end of May 2017. In addition to this, the main stock index (EGX30) witnessed a rise by 78% when compared the closure of May 2017 to the same period last year.

Sherif Samy noted that the total trading value of listed and delisted shares during the first five months of 2017 reached about 165 billion pounds, compared with   total trading value of  115 billion pounds during the same period last year representing an increase by 44%. The total value of trading on bonds (government – corporate) was about 5.4 billion pounds during the first five months of 2017.

Market capitalization of Nile Stock Exchange (Nilex) stood at 1.2 billion pounds compared to 1.22 billion pounds in the same period by the end of May 2016 with a decline by 2% in a year. The trading value of Nile Stock Exchange (Nilex) was 385 million EGP compared to 289 million EGP at the same period last year , witnessing an increase by 33%.

EFSA’s Chairman noted that transactions held on the listed certificates of ETFs were 29.4 million EGP within the first five  months of 2017 compared to 22.4 million EGP last year.

 On the other hand, transactions of Arabs and foreigners (net buying) amounted to 6.3 billion pounds from the beginning of the year until the end of May.

During the first five months of 2017, EFSA granted license for 10 companies and so, the number of licenses granted by EFSA was 832 in capital market, including 209 licenses for participating in the establishment of companies.
The total number of those who passed the tests held by EFSA in the first five months of 2017 was 115 applicants compared to 140 in the same period last year.
